The objective of this petition is to show OPERS that there is a large body of students in the UCSC community who want a Climbing Club.

Because UCSC already has forty-two clubs, they have decided to stop adding new clubs. Unfortunately, this means it is currently impossible to create a UCSC Climbing club. By gaining signatures we are hoping that OPERS will reevaluate their decision so that we can establish one. The goal of having a UCSC Climbing Club is to create a club where new and experienced climbers can learn about climbing and share their passion for the sport.

What will the proposed UCSC Climbing Club engage in as a club?
The club will meet at Pacific Edge Climbing gym a few times a week to climb and talk about climbing.  Every Month the club also plans to hold outdoor trips to local California climbing areas.

Future plans for UCSC Climbing club?
With your support we hope to create a competitive UCSC climbing team (open to skills of all level) that will focus on preparing for USA Climbing Collegiate competitions. We also hope to raise money towards all club members having access to climbing gear so that they may be able to participate in all aspects of climbing – indoor and outdoor.
