UCSB student health has closed the dental and eye clinic as of 2022. These clinics are two very valuable resources that were previously provided for students, but are now unavailable due to the university "investing resources in other medical services". As a UCSB student we pay for tuition as well as insurance through UCSHIP, where we initially expected to receive routine checkups as well as emergency appointments from both of these services. Now that UCSB has stripped their students of these resources, we are forced to find care else where, where for most places our "UCSHIP" insurance does not cover. Not to mention, it is very hard in the small town of Goleta to find reliable dentist/eye care. On the UCSB student health portal, dental and eye care are still listed as resources to students which I believe is very misleading. This petition will hopefully gain more traction in the re-opening of these two clinics, rightfully providing UCSB students with the care that was promised when choosing to pay for UCSHIP.
