I made this petition to make sure that Fridays are kept virtual. This issue affects families, teachers, and staff in Union County and we need change now! Please sign and share with others!

This is meant for keeping Fridays virtual. Many students express how they prefered Fridays as a virtual day for the extra day to work at their own pace and complete work on their own. Students also noted the mental health benefits of the virtual day (especially with Covid-19, many people are facing personal issues of varying difficulty). Students already face a lot of stress due to normal schooling, not to mention how this year has been particularly stressful due to Covid; suddenly adding another day will only increase student stress thus decreasing overall mental health. This day is also good for students to catch up on work.

4 days a week also helps students and teachers with an A-day B-day type schedule to keep organized and consistent. The limited number of days helps to limit the exposure to Covid, especially if the required distance will shift from 6 feet to 3 feet.

Many teachers would also have to plan an extra lesson for every week that is adjusted for Covid learning. Teachers also expressed how they appreciated the day to be able to catch up on their work. Curriculum-wise, the teachers are still able to teach at a pace without getting behind on any content.

This greatly effects the students, teachers, staff, and families within UCPS and the virtual Friday has many benefits for all of the people involved with a school's daily life.
