Here's an update to all of our subscribers from yesterday's meeting with Rebecca Schulz electoral district Calgary-Shaw. Your thoughts are very important to this petition, feel free to post your comments and keep in mind we have a bipartisanship in this UCP Premier race.
Dale,
Thank you very much for the call yesterday.
As former Minister of Children’s Services, I know how incredibly important disability workers are and I value your feedback very much. I’m also grateful to have the support of MLA Jeremy Nixon, who serves as the Parliamentary Assistant for Civil Society and is truly dedicated to empowering non-profits and serving our most vulnerable.
Employers across Alberta are struggling with significant labour force challenges and creative, common sense approaches are needed to address these, especially in crucial areas like the disability sector. That’s something I’ve gotten very good at over my years in government - I know how to listen to frontline workers and empower local decision-makers to respond to their community needs.
Albertans with disabilities and their support workers and systems deserve an open door and a seat at the table. If I’m elected the next leader of the United Conservative Party and Premier of Alberta, I’m committed to working with you to solve the problems you see every day and to make sure your contributions are valued - this means immediately reviewing your proposal for compensation this fall.
Alberta is among the greatest jurisdictions on earth. We can be the best place to live in the world. We have the resources, we have the technology, we have the minds to meet any challenge. We punch above our weight and we always have. But politics, and so often bureaucracy, are holding us back.
Starting from a position of common sense and compassion, I recognize that success means nothing if it doesn’t include Albertans with disabilities and the people who serve them. If we address the problems we see every day and prime the economy to propel us into the future, our incredible province will achieve its full potential- a potential that every single Albertan can fully participate in.
I can lead us into a new era of prosperity, not just for the next election but the next generation. Thank you for taking the time to speak with me and to learn about my platform at rebeccaforleader.ca.
Sincerely, Rebecca Schulz
