Tracy Allard is the MLA for Grande Prairie, who was appointed to the Treasury Board in July’s cabinet shuffle, and we met with us recently to discuss the petition and our aims. The purpose of the reshuffle was to contribute to stronger growth and prosperity in Alberta and we were sure to talk about what needs to be done to ensure the strength and prosperity of our vital sector.
 
We had discussed the crisis in the disability sector across Alberta: the low wages, the high turnover, and how they impact the quality of care for the individuals we serve. We also touched on the importance of disability programs being offered in colleges and universities.
 
Tracy was understanding of our requests and recognises that this is an issue that must be addressed. She will be exploring action within the treasury and aims to meet with the Minister of Community and Social services to talk about improving the sector.
