UC San Diego's library is named after Theodor Geisel. Theodor Geisel created racist and problematic cartoons, advertisements, and propaganda in the 20th century. 

UC San Diego should be a welcoming, inclusive, and multicultural institution where everyone can successfully achieve their academic dreams. This university campus can't achieve these qualities if the main research library and study facility is named after a staunch racist who spread hate and bigotry for decades. Tens of thousands of people attend UC San Diego as students each year, thousands of people work there each day, and thousands more visit the campus on a regular basis for a variety of reasons.

Let's work together to change the name of this important and crucial learning facility at UC San Diego. Let's change this UC library's name to something appropriate and inspiring in this 21st century.
