Many of us have seen the letter that was just sent by the administration. "Advising" flexibility and "encouraging" faculty to provide alternative means for course completion is not a clear policy statement. Encouragement doesn't protect students from academic penalization in the case of missed classes, and it isn't an effective strategy to help minimize community spread.

Students need to be able to adequately prepare for the rest of this quarter and the next quarter. The campus needs to prioritize at-risk students, faculty, and staff (as well as their at-risk loved ones) before this situation gets out of hand.
