Keep the ACOG on our GUNS!

The Issue

Ubisoft has done great with communication recently, however, they haven't communicated their concerns with the ACOG, or asked the community their opinions on it. New Rainbow Six Siege leaks have displayed Ubisoft removing the ACOG scope from almost every attacker in the game, as well as from every gun on defense besides for the P90. Fuze loses his AK's ACOG, but Ace still has his?

Fuze loses his ACOG on the AK-12 as a 3-armor with a reputation for being a subpar operator with a low pick rate, yet Ace keeps his ACOG with a reputation being an incredibly flexible operator with both great fragging potential and amazing utility. There is also the MP5: arguably the main reason for playing Doc and Rook in ranked or competitive. The MP5 is one of the only remaining fully-automatic guns on defense with the ACOG, however, it is balanced out with a middling rate of fire and low damage. The alternative, the P90, is less viable as a primary gun due to its recoil. Removing the ACOG off the P90 is a zero-sum game. Instead of nerfing the MP5, we should be finding ways to change the P90 to make it more appealing. Remove ACOG and buff the recoil to get some Doc mains off the MP5.

The developers need to tone down on the number of operators losing and gaining scopes. Removing the ACOG from the attacking side in the game's current defender-sided utility meta is a choice that is valid to an extent, however from what is being seen from leaks, gunfights may be unfair for attackers (Higher rate of fire guns with 1-shot headshot mechanic having the same optics given to attackers). They should also reevaluate the reason why people play certain operators over others. Is it for the gun or utility? Or is it both? The developers should consider which guns are possibly too strong for an ACOG on certain operators. Looking at the seasonal pickrate/presence graph, operators nearing the top right that have good utility coupled with a strong gun may need their range reduced with an ACOG removal.

We as the community need Rainbow Six to communicate with us, so we can help them understand what needs to be changed, but what is unnecessary.

To summarize:

  1. Have Rainbow Six communicate what concerns that have with the ACOG scope, and how it affects the game.
  2. Have Rainbow Six reevaluate whether certain operators are played for the gun or utility, and balance the ACOG based on how strong the operator's utility is.
  3. In the midst of a defender sided utility meta, there are still changes being made overall buffing all defenders. There is little reason to remove that many ACOGs off the attacking side. Have Rainbow Six reconsider the mass death of ACOGs on attack, and instead remove ACOGs from certain high presence - high win rate operators.

Doc/Rook mains unite to protect the sole reason why we play these two operators!
