As a longtime fan of the series, especially the modern-day story arc, I am sad to see the continuous trimming of the modern-day story aspects to the point where they have become little more than cutscenes. I believe many other fans also agree that we would like the franchise to refocus upon those modern-day Sci-Fi aspects so that we can once again feel connected to characters like Desmond, Shaun, and Bill. Even if the story were to branch off in a different direction or start with a few new characters/protagonists, I think we all want this interesting, engrossing side of the story back.
