The Issue
Everyday drivers are deactivated or risk being deactivated because passengers Lie to Uber saying the driver did something wrong. Drivers are automatically deactivated from using the driving app as soon as a passenger complains to Uber that the driver did something wrong. The driver does not get to know which passenger filed the complaint or most often even what the complaint is about. Uber says they are a great company to work for who protects their drivers. However if a passenger complains the driver is automatically guilty until the driver can prove their innocence. Drivers try to prove innocence not knowing which passenger made the complaint or most often what the complaint was about. In order to even try to get reinstate drivers email support back and forth often times with no resolution. Uber drivers go out everyday to get people around to where they need to be. Often when drivers pick up a passenger it is not even the person who ordered the ride.
Uber allows friends to order rides for friends. Basically anyone can use anyone's rider app. That puts drivers at risk because we really don't know who is in our cars. One complaint and we get deactivated. But passengers can keep using app. Passengers can be banned from using the app for a offense against Uber's policy , but can turn around and order a ride through a friends app.
Drivers though get deactivated and that's it no more Uber unless Uber decides to reactivate you. This is a very unfair situation. Drivers sometimes lose 4 days of work or more trying to fix a deactivation that happened because a passenger Lied about something happening that did not happen.
Uber needs to allow drivers access to the name of the person that made the complaint so we can accurately defend ourselves. Uber also needs to set up a specific group of people we can call to deal with just driver deactivation or complaints. This way we are not going through email and getting prefilled in auto reply. If Uber really cares about its drivers then let us be innocent until proven guilty not guilty until proven innocent. Drivers go out everyday to get people around safely for Uber and when it comes to keeping their drivers safe and happy they are seriously failing in many ways. Many drivers drive because of the great flexibility that comes along with driving.many are disabled in one way or another and can't work a normal 9 to 5 job but still want to work... Uber needs to protect drivers that are falsely accused of wrong doings. As it is drivers are making less then Uber originally was paying, but we still get on the rd to transport people where they need to go because that's what we love to do.
