Reverse ban on legally carried firearms in Uber vehicles

With Uber's recent announcement (http://www.foxnews.com/us/2015/06/20/uber-banning-riders-drivers-from-carrying-guns/?intcmp=latestnews) prohibiting legally carried weapons in Uber vehicles, not only does this policy violate a person's rights, it creates moving "gun-free" zones. What the news has failed to present is that "gun-free" zones are the favorite targets of criminals. Uber also classifies their drivers as "independent contractors". With such a classification, they don't have the right to prohibit what is allowed, or not allowed, in a personal vehicle.
Licensed permit-holders are some of the most law abiding citizens in the country and have undergone a very extensive background check. Much more extensive than Uber's own background check. Prohibiting weapons doesn't make any one safe, except the criminals. Even a licensed Uber driver in Chicago saved lives by firing on a criminal shooting into a crowded street. Prosecutors declined to press charges against the driver because he defended others. We urge Uber to reverse their ban and allow both drivers and passengers to carry legally under their own state laws as before.
