With Uber's recent announcement  (http://www.foxnews.com/us/2015/06/20/uber-banning-riders-drivers-from-carrying-guns/?intcmp=latestnews)  prohibiting legally carried weapons in Uber vehicles, not only does this policy violate a person's rights, it creates moving "gun-free" zones.  What the news has failed to present is that "gun-free" zones are the favorite targets of criminals.  Uber also classifies their drivers as "independent contractors".  With such a classification, they don't have the right to prohibit what is allowed, or not allowed, in a personal vehicle.

Licensed permit-holders are some of the most law abiding citizens in the country and have undergone a very extensive background check.  Much more extensive than Uber's own background check.  Prohibiting weapons doesn't make any one safe, except the criminals.  Even a licensed Uber driver in Chicago saved lives by firing on a criminal shooting into a crowded street.  Prosecutors declined to press charges against the driver because he defended others.  Read this article for more information:  http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/local/breaking/ct-uber-driver-shoots-gunman-met-0420-20150419-story.html

We urge Uber to reverse their ban and allow both drivers and passengers to carry legally under their own state laws as before.
