The essence of UAAP is for various universities around the Philippines to compete in sporting events with the support of their peers, families, and community. A large part of this is the drummers because of the importance that school spirit upholds for the athletes and traditions of the participating university. While the stadium may be absent of support from the stands, the cheers and beats of the drum that carry a lineage of history and custom are an important facet as to what UAAP stands for. 

This petition pleads for UAAP to reconsider the fellow cheer teams and drummers from participating universities to attend the games set for Season 84 to support our athletes. If the concern is social distancing asides from limiting the amount of people in one venue, drummers are always situated at the general admission seats and have the least contact with other fans (unless it is a popular matchup). In this case, lessening the equipment would make sense if the arena does not have any physical viewership as well. We humbly ask the federation to reconsider having drummers and cheerleaders present during games as a sign of support.
