The Issue
The Stronger CAPTA will build networks of prevention services designed to strengthen families, improve the quality of child protective services, expand prevention services to reach over 3 million children annually, foster new research to support state child services in expanding services to meet increased demand without sacrificing quality, improve the quality of federal and state data by establishing uniform standards for counting child fatalities and near fatalities related to child maltreatment, create an electronic system that allows states to share data from their child abuse and neglect registries with other states, support the development of strategies and best practices for reducing rates of child abuse and neglect linked to parent’s substance use disorder, Improve prevention for tribal organizations and migrant programs, ensure that prevention services accessible to all families and address racial bias across the child welfare system, improve prevention for tribal organizations and migrant programs.
