Various Indigenous Americans have been failed by a nation who owe their success to them in a system that is crucial for the livelihood of not only this group, but the entirety of the American population; this system is none other than American health care. The United States’ failure to accommodate this group and consider their situations has been detrimental to the livelihood of countless Indigenous Americans. As shown by various studies, Native Americans face a plethora of health care disparities ranging from underfunding to high mortality rates among Indigenous infants. Furthermore, those who have decided to reside in the designated land of their ancestors face greater injustices given that they lack the financial necessities and means of travel to fully exercise their healthcare. In the faith of being true allies to this marginalized group, we ask that you analyze these disparities and truly understand the serious issues that these individuals face. Although we cannot change these statistics through financial means, we can certainly push and advocate for the legal reform of this system and not ask for equality, rather demand equity for our Indigenous friends, sisters, and brothers.
