End Religious Persecution in Iran - Save Pastor Youcef Nadarkhani

The United Methodist Social Principles (¶162B) “urge policies and practices that ensure the right of every religious group to exercise its faith free from legal, political, or economic restrictions.” They condemn all overt and covert forms of religious intolerance, and “assert the right of all religions and their adherents to freedom from legal, economic, and social discrimination.”

In 1993, Bishop Haik Hovsepian raised international concern for the release of his fellow pastor, Mehdi Dibaj, who was sentenced to death for apostasy in Iran. The bishop said, "If we go to jail or die for our faith, we want the whole Christian world to know what is happening to their brothers and sisters."

His global campaign got Dibaj released on Jan. 16, 1994. Both men, however, were abducted and killed a few months apart in the same year.

Let us not stop, though. Each of our parts in campaigning for our suffering brothers around the world would certainly bring positive results. Show your solidarity for Pastor Nadarkhani by raising your voice in the social networks such as Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, emails and other channels.
