Remove the racial slur “Indian” from National Park signs

Remove the racial slur “Indian” from National Park signs
The Issue
The racial slur “Indian” is often used to describe a Native American (the Natives who inhabited the Americas before Europeans started colonizing their land in 1492). The word “Indian” is the actual term for people who are from the country of India. The word “Indian” is not a racial slur when used to address the right racial group, which are people from the country of India. So why do we call Native Americans “Indians” if they are not from India? The term Indian was used to refer to the Native Americans because Christopher Columbus sought out to sail to the Indies. He made some mistakes along the way and ended up setting shore in the Americas. He thought he landed in the Indies, but actually was in the Americas. The reason Native Americans have been mislabeled for over 500 years is all because Christopher Columbus made an error while sailing. The use of the term “Indians” is in no way educationally correct nor is it morally right. How can The National Park Service be an educational tool for our youth and visitors if they continue to use incorrect information and racist labels?
