Allow men to compete shirtless in no-gi submission grappling.

The Issue

We are asking you to restore the option of a traditional, shirtless no-gi uniform for competition. Many of us prefer this option, for a variety of reasons: some find it more comfortable, cooler, allowing greater freedom of movement, allowing the skin to dry more quickly or sweat to be wiped away easily. Others simply prefer to compete shirtless for intangible reasons, such as tradition or an enhanced feeling of virility and competition. A rash guard may be almost as good on many of these counts, but for many it is just not the same. But there is no reason to restrict a competitor’s choice in this manner. So we are asking you to give athletes the option to compete in the uniform of their choice. We believe it will be more satisfactory to competitors and spectators and give an impression of legitimacy and taking the sport seriously. Thanks for your consideration.
