Dear Supporters,
Today we became aware the Motor Vehicle Safety Act and I wanted to share this information with you right away.
Motor Vehicle Safety Act - This article says that in 1965, motor vehicle crashes were the number one cause of death of Americans under the age of 44. As you would expect, the auto industry didn't want to be regulated and was convincing Congress not to act, but when Congress found out that General Motors had hired detectives to find dirt on Ralph Nader, Congress had had enough and passed the Motor Vehicle Safety Act. https://www.britannica.com/topic/National-Traffic-and-Motor-Vehicle-Safety-Act
Today the Associated Press reported about Tesla's software illegally allowing its vehicles to roll through stop signs without stopping. Now check out this response from NHTSA to the situation with Tesla being designed to run stop signs: “The Vehicle Safety Act prohibits manufacturers from selling vehicles with defects posing unreasonable risks to safety, including intentional design choices that are unsafe,” the agency said. “If the information shows that a safety risk may exist, NHTSA will act immediately.”
Well, NHTSA, we have been telling you about the defects of LED headlights that have been injuring Americans for several years, and yet we certainly haven't seen you "act immediately". Why?
The two Associated Press reporters who write on automotive issues are:
Tom Krisher: tkrisher@ap.org
Hope Yen: hyen@ap.org
Please write to these reporters, share the link to this petition, and ask them to write a story about how LED headlights violate the Motor Vehicle Safety Act.
In addition, all of us who have signed this petition have been injured by LED headlights. Due to our injuries and the fact that auto makers such as General Motors and Ford have violated the law, we are due compensation. Anybody know a law firm ready to fight for our rights?
Sincerely,
Mark Baker
