Tired of Tyson’s refusal to provide adequate protection for its workers, 122 organizations teamed up together to take on Tyson. Thanks to your contributions, the Week of Action Against Tyson was a smashing success! The #Justice4TysonWorkers hashtag had 58.1 million impressions from 4,400+ tweets, more than 20 media outlets shared the story, Tyson executives received hundreds of phone calls, a civil rights complaint with the US Department of Agriculture was filed against Tyson Foods for racial discrimination during COVID-19—and two investor companies even committed to engaging with Tyson about our demands!
This success wouldn’t have been possible without your support, so THANK YOU!
But the fight doesn’t end there. Let’s keep the pressure on Tyson by completing a few quick actions!
-
Action 1 - Reply to Tyson’s latest tweet to let them know that consumers won’t support their bad behavior. You can use the example below as inspiration:
.@TysonFoods puts profits over its workers, animals, and the planet. It’s time for @TysonFoodsCEO to enact real change! #TakeOnTyson https://www.change.org/p/tyson-stop-neglecting-workers-animals-and-public-health - Action 2 - Check out The Humane League’s “End Live-Shackle Slaughter” campaign site to learn more about this horrific practice and sign our new petition while you’re there!
-
Action 3 - Submit a contact form to tell Tyson Foods to do better!
Sample message: I recently saw this website about how the chicken industry utilizes live-shackle slaughter: www.StopBoilingBirdsAlive.com These poor chickens are violently slammed upside down into metal shackles by their fragile legs, often breaking their bones, and making it difficult to breathe. Tragically, many are still conscious as their throats are slit, and even worse, if they miss the blade, they are then boiled alive. It’s time to ban this horrific practice throughout your entire supply chain, Tyson! These animals all deserve so much better. Please put an end to this extreme cruelty.
Keep sharing this petition with your networks! We can’t let up on Tyson if we want to see them make meaningful progress for workers, animals, and public health.
