The TxDOT 281 Project WILL DESTROY BLANCO!!

TxDOT is expanding 281. What can we do about it? Work together - find positive and effective solutions for managing this expansion and preserving our community. 

The picture for this petition shows what an even minimal expansion of Hwy 281 through Blanco will look like. Yellow is 100 feet, green is 120'. Practically speaking it would be a minimum of 120' but more likely 150' (blue) to 200'(purple). 

Just the bare minimum expansion will be devastating. Goodby Methodist Church and Uptown complex to start….

Even at 150-200 feet -- i.e., total annihilation of Main Street as we know it -- it will be a bottleneck, like Oak Hill west of Austin has been for years.

There will be a meeting held on Monday, August 22 at 6:30PM by the Chamber of Commerce at the Old Blanco County Courthouse. There will also be a meeting on September 29th at 5PM - 7PM by TxDOT and the City of Blanco at the BHS cafeteria. We need all of Blanco’s participation in this. Please start getting active in this community.
