Stop a solar farm in East Bend

Stop a solar farm in East Bend
The Issue
There is an application submitted by Silver Pine Energy and it’s subsidiary, Two Hearted Solar, LLC for a conditional use permit to install a solar farm on 285 acres. The solar farm will take over 17 parcels of land totaling 370.5 acres and and abuts several residential properties, many of whom have been living there for over 30 years. It will be an unsightly view from Shady Grove Church Road and from residents backyards. The proposed land in question is currently active farmland. This farm land is also home to much wildlife the local residents enjoy and depend on. Some go hunting during the hunting seasons to supplement the food they put on their table for their families, others simply like to feed and enjoy watching it. There are Blue Herons that eat the fish in the stream fed by 2 ponds on the parcels, Turtles, raccoons, fox, a non intrusive and stable coyote pack, owls and other birds of prey all make that land home and live in harmony with the residents.
Having a solar farm here will drastically reduce and harm the natural patterns of the local wildlife and damage the natural flow of the waterways the wildlife depend on. Birds will not nest, fox and coyotes will be forced into residential areas as their food supply disappears and relocates to less desire able locations.
The people who live on Shady Grove Church Rd, and those that use it as a main thoroughfare enjoy the scenery and have long known about the patterns of the farmers. A solar farm will not benefit this community in any way, but will be a hinderance to any future residents who may want to come to our small quiet town to retire or to build a family.
