Over many months there has been a tremendous increase in transphobia on twitter. Transgendered individuals are being attacked online and nothing is being done about it. Even though the hashtag trans women are women is trending, more needs to be done to protect transgendered people on twitter. I propose a new system to deal with accounts that spread hate. Any transphobic tweet gets you an instant warning, three warnings and you are banned, I know this may seem extreme, but statistically transgendered individuals are at a high risk of suicide. Also I would suggest implementing something to deal with misinformation about being transgender spreading across twitter. I would suggest a trigger word system, if a word like transgender is used, perhaps the tweet could be put through a filter system to make sure it is not offensive in any way before it is officially posted. I understand that this may not be possible, but perhaps there is something else that would be equally effective.
