IN RESPONSE TO THE RACIAL ABUSE RECEIVED AS A RESULT OF SAINSBURYS LATEST AD

As a black talent agent of 10 years I’ve seen and heard a lot in the world of TV, film and theatre. I’ve seen racial discrimination, I’ve heard racial abuse and I’ve seen unfairness.. however it’s never stopped me and I believe as people become more educated things are changing for the better.

In the UK we are a diverse melting pot of cultures, religions and races. For the first time in forever that is now beginning to be reflected in the commercials and media that we consume.

However, there is a section of society that believe that there is no place for diversity or racial equality so when adverts are released that feature black people they attack the company with a flurry of nasty racist comments. 

 This abuse must stop. There needs to be a law or a ruling so that there are consequences to the platform owner if a racist comment is not deleted in a given time frame there is a sanction. Really and truly it should be within 5 minutes. While everyone is entitled to their own opinion and censorship is not the aim... we must stamp out racial abuse online once and for all.
