The Issue

On July 27th, 2026, something concerning occurred in our town of Lewiston/Auburn, Maine. ICE vehicles arrived in the morning and stayed until the early afternoon. It's believed they detained three people, though details are not confirmed, and their identities remain unknown. As a community member deeply invested in the safety and rights of everyone in our town, I'm worried about the potential for more such incidents without transparency or accountability. As well as risks of unprovoked shootings by ICE as this has already occurred in Biddeford

It's crucial that our local government take immediate steps to protect residents from potentially unauthorized immigration enforcement operations. These actions not only create fear but also potentially violate legal procedures meant to safeguard individuals’ rights. Our community deserves clear, reliable information and assurance that any enforcement carried out within Lewiston/Auburn adheres strictly to the law. ICE must also stick to it’s word and only target those with true criminal records.

Lewiston/Auburn leaders must demand that any ICE operations conducted here are fully transparent. We need verified details about what occurred, why it happened, and how we can ensure future accountability. The local government must also establish a protocol for communication with residents about these activities to prevent confusion and unnecessary panic. It’s time for our city officials to stand up for transparency and protect the dignity and rights of every individual in our community.

Join me in urging our city leaders to take action. Let’s ensure the Twin Cities Lewiston/Auburn remains a safe place where all residents are treated with respect and fairness. Please sign this petition to demand oversight and accountability in all ICE operations within Lewiston/Auburn.
