We're starting this petition for the upgrades to the south tweed skatepark.

Currently the park is in a  rather average state, the concrete is rough and hazardous to fall on in comparison to modern day skateparks. 

There is little to no shade at the skatepark during the mid day sun and the seating has seen better days. Most of the seats have sharp jaggered edges and are rather rusty. There also aren't enough bins for the location, therefore the litter becomes a problem. 

We're asking the shire to refurbish the skatepark by having the existing bowl resurfaced or ground smoothed much like they did in Ballina, NSW. Some more shade added to the skatepark either with shade huts or cloth over the bowl. New seating and bins for the area.

We're also asking the shire for consideration into Installing lights at the skatepark so people who work normal 9-5 jobs can use the park as well. For most of the year the park isn't usable after 5pm as it gets dark quickly. This would allow more people to use the skatepark more and would also allow people to practice their favourite sports in the coolness of the evening. 

The Shire has expressed interest and would like to gage how much we the local population like the idea. They are also considering some more beginner friendly obsticals and a pump track which would really boost the area.
