OMG, after watching and listening to the GOP forum regarding Hilton Head National last night I came home so angry and fired up I figured it best to wait until this morning to give you all and update. Answering questions about the development were the architect for the development and three County Council members, Michael Covert, Rick Caporale and Brian Flewelling. As we entered anybody that wanted to pose a question was asked to put their name on a card. That opportunity was never afforded to us as the meeting simply ended. Highlights: Rick Caporal beat his chest leading folks to believe he was all for the suspension of the project until more studies could be done when in fact he voted against it in the last County Council meeting. Secondly, Brian Flewelling got visibly upset over catcalls from the audience over answers he gave. He finally took a direction that had my jaw drop stating that "we are all Republicans here and as Republicans we should let people do what they want with their land." Furthermore he said that self contained developments will actually help traffic because people will never have to leave the property to shop, dine or whatever. My question, had they allowed me to ask it, was what about all the people heading to and fro from the 500 room hotel, the waterpark, the schools, the assisted living facility and all the planned commercial space. Add to that the employee traffic. In my humble opinion the meeting was a bad joke. Next Thursday, March 30th it will be critical that ALL OF YOU show up at the Bluffton Library at 2p.m. I know it will interfere with your work, and mine, but it is imperative we all show up. The developers and the entire County Council will once again meet. Change your schedule to be there or else our lifestyle will become a thing of the past. The final decision on what happens here will set a precedent for the long list of developments in the pipeline. SPREAD THE WORD!!!!
