Coldwater Books was a beloved landmark of Tuscumbia and The Shoals as a whole. It was a boutique book store, an inviting coffee shop, and a place of relaxation for many. The unique atmosphere of Coldwater is something irreplaceable—despite the other wonderful coffee shops in The Shoals Area. Not only is it missed, but its absence leaves a hole in the culture of Tuscumbia.

While there were undoubtedly good reasons for Coldwater to take time to restructure, now is the best time to reemerge. The decline in COVID-19 means more people eager to get out of their houses. Additionally, the increase in remote work has raised the demand for places to work outside of the home. I have spoken to many locals who miss the location dearly and are willing to support the store upon its return.

This petition's goal is to show clear interest and desire for Coldwater's to reopen. Any means of reopening are welcome, whether that entails less hours or decreased staff.  The store is still left entirely intact; all it needs is a little work to be ready for business once again.
