Turvey Needs Your Help!!

The Issue

🙏🙏 WE NEED YOUR HELP AND SUPPORT🙏🙏

The vision of Inspired Villages Group is “To significantly transform the later life experience in the U.K” and, in developing their villages, great emphasis is placed on providing wellness facilities for their residents and local neighbours including a ‘Wellness Coordinator (Duncan), Gym facilities, a pool, social spaces and outdoor recreational facilities as exist in their other villages. In the case of Elderswell the space did not exist for these outdoor facilities but land was purchased, adjacent to the main site, with a view to developing such a recreational facility. It was a great shock and disappointment to the company, residents and local neighbours that the planning application for converting this area of unattended grassland into beautiful landscaped gardens with recreational pathways and facilities was rejected.

We, the undersigned residents of The Elderswell Retirement Village, have studied the above planning application and fully support this proposal for the following reasons:

-       Currently there is no amenity space at Elderswell Village, nor in the immediate area of Station End Turvey, where residents can safely take leisurely walking time, an important health requirement of the retired community. It is normal for such rural retirement villages to provide this space and facility but, at Elderswell, due to current space restrictions, this cannot be facilitated. Approval of this application would rectify this omission.

-       The lack of this facility, together with the following benefits, also applies to the local Station End community and this facility would also improve their amenities.

-       The area of land that the proposal refers to is currently not maintained and is surrounded by decaying fencing, overgrown hedging and trees that have now been hidden from view by fencing installed by the developer. This proposal will transform the area into one of natural beauty, safety and environmental benefit as well as providing a much-needed amenity to the community.

-       Currently, there is a dearth of wild birds and insects in the vicinity following the recent developments. The additional plantings being proposed should attract wildlife as well as the general improvement to the environment.
