Having the lights on at the park after dark has always been a crucial part of this experience, allowing us to play safely in the evening and keeping the park vibrant and bustling well into the night.

But now the lights have been turned off and our cherished time on the courts is cut short. Without evening lighting, we lose not just valuable playtime but a vital space for socializing and staying active. Pioneer Park is one of the few recreational places where our Kankakee youth can engage in positive activities instead of succumbing to less productive or even harmful paths.
