Tucson City Councilmember Santa Cruz to recuse herself from voting on Tucson Police Budget

Tucson City Councilmember Santa Cruz to recuse herself from voting on Tucson Police Budget
The Issue
Council member Lane Santa Cruz will be participating in the upcoming fiscal budget for Tucson Police Department.
In an article posted June 4, 2020 on tucson.com she neither showed remorse or accountability for berating other city employees in front of community members.
She participated/was present in a protest against police. While that's perfectly acceptable in order to see the community's response, her behavior was perceived as self serving. She identified herself as a City Council member while cursing at officers on a skirmish line and demanding that the commanders, Captain Dennison and Chief Magnus stop what they were doing to come brief her despite actively taking various projectiles being thrown at them from a very hostile and visibly armed crowd. The video/audio via police body cameras on the skirmish line memorializing her hostile behavior while police officers were trying to clear the crowd from the dispersal order. She denies hearing the dispersal order, however being an activist who has likely participated in many protests that have unfortunately turned violent requiring such action from the police is hard to believe. Insisting Chief Magnus makes her obvious frustration with the police enforcing the order over the safety of the protesters and the police officers only validates that she's incapable of being impartial. It's also shameful that she has not publicly apologized to the Tucson Police, specifically Captain Dennison and Chief Magnus for the position she attempted to put them in - in front of Tucson community members. She needs to apologize to the peaceful protesters that heard the repeated dispersal order and left, as well. Her remaining unlawfully and accosting the officers doing their job looks bad for our city officials and for the constituents who voted her in. Other city council members present did not stick around after the dispersal, nor did they attempt to obstruct Tucson Police from doing their job.
The Tucson Ward 1 Facebook page reflects partiality against police with posts showing favor towards a movement over being impartial for the sake of her city entities and reflecting ALL of her constituents voices. To believe she can participate in voting on something so important without bias and being anti police is not realistic. Members of the Tucson community, including myself believe it is in the best interest of the community and their public safety if Lane Santa Cruz recuses herself due to the obvious conflict of interest in conjunction with her behavior at the protest noted in the article mentioned above.
Please help ensure that the next fiscal budget reflects all voices and members of its community.
