To the Trustees of the Exeter Mosque and Cultural Centre,

"And who are more unjust than those who prevent the name of Allah from being mentioned in His mosques" - Surah Al-Baqarah (2:114)

We, the undersigned, wish to declare that we are in complete opposition to your attempts to ban three upstanding and law-abiding members of this community from the Mosque.

As a general principle, no one should be banned from the House of Allah. It is a place of divine worship, not the private property of appointed trustees.

On 22 November 2019, your administration wasted more than £12,000 of our donation money in a futile attempt to ban three Muslims from the Mosque due to a personal and political dispute you have with them. Even if legal proceedings could be justified, you promised that this sum would be recoverable, but it is now apparent that it will be heard in the small claims court which means you have wasted £12,000 and have clearly spent thousands more on expensive lawyers to continue to try and ban these Muslims.

Your attempt to ban people simply for disagreeing with you is both unconscionable and un-Islamic. Even if someone has done wrong, they should be allowed and be able to connect with Allah so that they and all of us can find guidance.

We urge you to withdraw your frivolous case against these fellow Muslims and to stop wasting the Mosque community's hard-earned donation money on personal grudges.

If you do not cease, then we will collectively write to the Charity Commission demanding they step in to protect the Mosque's finances and assets from careless trustees and remove them from office.
