The Issue

Just days after President Trump met with Vladimir Putin in Alaska, Russia launched its largest assault on Kyiv since the war began—killing at least 18 people, including four children, and injuring dozens more.

Apartment buildings, a shopping mall, and even diplomatic offices were reduced to rubble in a storm of missiles and drones.

This is not diplomacy. This is devastation.

The American people were told this summit would bring us closer to peace. Instead, it has emboldened a regime that continues to bomb civilians, target diplomats, and violate international law. Russia’s latest attack shows that without real consequences, the violence will continue—and innocent people will pay the price.

President Trump originally said a ceasefire must come before peace negotiations. But after meeting with Putin, he reversed that position. Now, Ukrainian cities remain under siege while talks go nowhere and lives are lost.

We are calling on President Donald Trump to immediately demand an unconditional ceasefire from Russia as the baseline for any ongoing diplomatic efforts. That means:

No more summit photo-ops without meaningful steps toward ending the war.
No more delays while civilians die in rubble.
No more compromises that reward violence.

We also call on Congress and global allies to stand firm: a real peace process cannot begin while bombs are falling. Every day without a ceasefire brings more trauma, more death, and more instability across Europe and the world.

The people of Ukraine deserve more than sympathy. They deserve safety. And the world is watching.
