Ban the Unsupervised Tethering of Dogs in the City of Lagrange and Troup County, Georgia

The Issue

In 2015, the city of Lagrange passed an ordinance that would no longer allow dogs to be tethered to a stationary object. Troup County passed the same ordinance in 2017. However, LaGrange and Troup County both allow a dog to be tied unsupervised 24/7 to a two-point tether known as a trolley, zipline, or runner. Continuous unsupervised tethering of a dog by any means is detrimental to his/her physical and emotional health and is a public safety risk (due to fear of aggression resulting in dog bites).

We, the undersigned, are concerned citizens who urge our leaders to act now to ban the use of any form of unsupervised tethering, including trolleys, ziplines, or runners, and only allow tethering while attended and as a temporary means of restraint.

Please leave comments and whether you are a Troup county resident.
