The Covid-19 pandemic has forced schools to organize online exams in order to fight the spread of the virus. However, these online exams present a multitude of major issues. For the academic and mental well-being of students and staff, all Final Exams in the Trillium Lakelands District School Board should be cancelled and replaced with Culminating Activities.

• Several Ontario school boards have already cancelled their Final Exams. This affects TLDSB students applying for post-secondary institutions because they will be competing with applicants who did not have Final Exams and therefore have inflated grades. (Ontario universities have already stated that lack of Final Exam grades will not harm applications.)
• Numerous concerns have been raised about the virtual proctoring software used by schools. Culminating Activities would be a much more reliable measure of student proficiency. (This has already been done by a number of Ontario school boards as well.)
• As the pandemic in Canada worsens, Final Exams will add to stress and adversely affect student mental health.
