With the lack of zombie maps in most cod games especially prior to dlc coming out modded custom maps were a classic way to bring more entertainment and focus to the zombies mode. It brought hilarious and challenging additions to a game that was already so fun to play. Not every cod has had this mod support but games that did are still played to this day like WAW and BLOPS 3 I think this would bring so many more players in.
