The residents of San Gwann living near San Gwann tal-gharghar chapel have a longstanding safety issue relating to an adequate Pedestrian Crossing in a major main road in San Gwann, Triq Bella Vista.

Workers, residents and even retail outlet customers are facing a constant major safety concern, since the only pedestrian crossing available is unsafe to be reached either by foot, wheelchair or push chair. Users have to cross two other dangerous blind corners between Triq San Giljan and Triq San Gwann tal-Gharghar. Furthermore, the only available pedestrian crossing is currently inaccessible due to construction works. On the other hand, one cannot but not mention that none of pedestrian walkways are easy accessible for people with special needs and push chair.

Previous Local Councils have argued that they cannot place a crossing every 50 meters. Despite the residents argued that another crossing could have been placed further than 50 meters from the existing one, nothing was ever done. Following various emails and Facebook messages with the current Local Council Administration, it seems that even these are reluctant to cater for the needs of workers, residents and children attending nearby catholic institutions and Art studios.

Therefore I am asking you to sign this petition for a Pedestrian Crossing to be built in Triq Bella vista San Gwann somewhere  between Triq San Gwann tal-Gharghar and Triq WIed Ghollieqa.
