Indoor Skatepark in Austin, Texas
The Issue
I wanted to create this petition or “voice” for an indoor skatepark. As you know, Austin doesn’t have any indoor skateparks anymore. And i feel like lots of us have have wondered why. Typically its a funding and rent issue with a very large commercial space.
BUT. What are the pros and cons of an indoor skatepark?
Pros:
Contains elements that outdoor skateparks do not have or they simply just lack.
AC! So no heat strokes, or freezing to death. It gives more incentive to get active and go skate!
Wood ramps (absorbs your fall more).
You can skate when its raining, or when temperatures are way too hot or way too cold.
It would be the only public indoor skatepark in all of Austin!
Cons:
They cost monay (daily admission)
Now think of this. A huge indoor skatepark located in the austin area, thats open from maybe 8am-10pm. Maybe a big half pipe. A foam pit. And any other feature that any austin area outdoor skatepark lacks. And an outdoor section thats open 24/7. For the outdoor a pump track would be cool. Some concrete elements like a bowl, some vert ramps, and ledges. Even also a shed that will contain some Fresh Park ramps for skaters to move around on an empty slab. You would pay a daily admission fee. OR a monthly subscription for unlimited visits.
A very big UNIQUE skatepark designed for all ages and all “Wheel walks of life”. Skateboarders, bikers, bladers, and scooters.
My target for this idea would be someone who is interested in opening up an indoor skatepark. Some people who have thought of opening one were afraid they would not be able to run the business with the lack of traffic.
But also a HUGE factor that should play into this skatepark is what do the SKATERS want. What does AUSTIN want. What do we NOT have. What do other skateparks LACK.

Once i get to 1000 signers. I will make a go fund me for anyone who wants to donate to bring this idea to life, and 100% of the proceeds/funds will go to an investor that is Interested or the county if they want to open one. If this idea however does not be declared a victory, then all donations will be refunded respectively.
