The TFL’s new scheme to charge £15 a day for congestion charge is ridiculous and unaffordable for a lot of working Londoner’s. As well as changing the paying hours from 7am-6pm, it will now be until 10pm, and 7 days a week! The fee and the new hours/days come in to force from the 22nd of June and the congestion charge is back in operation from Monday. 

The congestion charging fees were stopped at the beginning of lockdown to encourage key workers to drive to work rather than using public transport and to keep safe, rather than risking their lives and help stopping the spread of Covid-19. After after a tax payer £1.6 BILLION bail out to keep tfl in operation until September, the fees have now been hiked by a staggering 30% and are being reintroduced weeks earlier than originally planned. For Londoners this is absolutely unacceptable. 

We are being urged to go back to work to save the economy, but not only are we putting ourselves at risk, we are now being charged extortionate amounts of money to do so. 

For some of us who live here or are key workers here, we rely on our cars to get us to and from work safely, or to help family members and friends. What you are doing is completely unfair! Us, as Londoner’s need to put a stop to this. Let’s get this brought up in parliament and something done about it!
