Transition RBKC council to 100% plant-based catering

Transition RBKC council to 100% plant-based catering
The Issue
RBKC declared a climate emergency in 2019 — yet the council still serves meat and dairy at its own internal meetings. Food is one of the biggest contributors to emissions, and this is one of the simplest areas where RBKC can lead by example.
We’re not asking residents to change their personal diets. This is about the council taking responsibility for its own institutional impact. Other councils including Cambridge, Oxford and Hythe have already moved to plant-based catering, many at the same or lower cost.
Plant-based catering is inclusive, climate-friendly, and aligns with RBKC’s own Net Zero 2030 and Public Health Strategy goals. It is practical and entirely achievable.
RBKC can be the first Conservative-led council in the UK to take this step. It’s a simple, symbolic action with real benefits for people, planet and public finances.
