As concerned parents and community members, we propose converting our current local public elementary school, Sylvania Heights Elementary, into a K-8 center. This initiative would create a stable and consistent environment for the children, especially benefiting the large Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) community at the school by reducing the number of school transitions they face. Studies show consistent learning environments could benefit children with ASD, decreasing anxiety and related behavioral issues (source: "The School Psychologist"). Assuming, if we can gain the support of our community, we can present this proposal to local school boards for consideration.
