The Issue

Growing up in Colonial Heights, the Sherwood Hills pool was more than just a place to swim; it was a cornerstone of our community, a gathering place for families, laughter, and lifelong memories. For decades, it served as a safe haven for children and a social hub for adults. However, its doors have been shut, and the pool now sits abandoned, a shadow of its vibrant past. The loss of this communal space is deeply felt, and it’s time we reimagine its potential and reinvigorate our neighborhood.

I propose transforming the old Sherwood Hills pool into a dynamic playground and community area where families can gather once again, fostering a sense of unity and joy. Imagine a space filled with swings, slides, and climbing frames, alive with the sound of children’s laughter. This transformation wouldn’t just be about recreation; it would breathe life back into an underutilized area and rejuvenate the sense of community pride.

Moreover, alongside the playground, I propose the creation of a Colonial Heights community garden. This space would not only provide fresh produce but also encourage sustainable living and foster close-knit community relationships through shared work and collaboration. A garden could serve as an educational resource for schools and an oasis for people of all ages to enjoy and tend to.

Both projects would offer endless benefits, from boosting property values to enhancing the aesthetic appeal of the neighborhood. With your support, we can work with local government and community organizations to make this vision a reality. Let’s turn these abandoned grounds into thriving pillars of our community once more.

Sign this petition to support the transformation of Sherwood Hills pool into a vibrant community playground and the establishment of a community garden in Colonial Heights. Together, we can bring back a beloved community space and create a new legacy for future generations.
