Transform General Trias, Cavite into a Plastic-Free City

Transform General Trias, Cavite into a Plastic-Free City
The Issue
I am a resident of General Trias, Cavite, and I have witnessed firsthand the devastating impact of plastic pollution in our beloved city. Our streets and waterways are frequently flooded due to the accumulation of non-biodegradable waste. This is not only an environmental issue but also a public health concern that affects us all.
In the Philippines, we generate around 2.7 million metric tons of plastic waste annually according to a report by Ocean Conservancy and McKinsey Center for Business and Environment (2015). A significant portion of this ends up in our oceans, contributing to marine pollution which harms marine life and threatens our food security.
General Trias has the potential to lead change in this area by becoming a plastic-free city. By implementing strict regulations on single-use plastics and promoting sustainable alternatives, we can significantly reduce our contribution to this global problem.
We call upon the local government officials of General Trias, Cavite - let's make our city an example for others by becoming plastic-free! We urge you to enact policies that discourage single-use plastics and encourage recycling or composting programs. Let's protect our environment for future generations who will call General Trias home.
Please join me in urging our leaders towards this vital step forward – sign this petition today!
