Transform Dataran Sekilau, Kuantan to a more Green, Eco-Friendly park

Transform Dataran Sekilau, Kuantan to a more Green, Eco-Friendly park

The Issue

I am a resident of Kuantan, Pahang, Malaysia. In recent years, I have witnessed our beloved city council's focus shift from preserving the natural beauty of our region to prioritizing construction projects.

The once lush and vibrant Kuantan is now losing its charm due to the relentless cutting down of trees and an uncontrolled influx of vendors and buildings

Our plea is simple - we want Dataran Sekilau, Kuantan transformed into a more eco-friendly park that respects nature while accommodating the needs of its people.

We propose a controlled number of vendors who adhere strictly to cleanliness standards set by environmental bodies. This will not only maintain the aesthetic appeal but also ensure the park remains sustainable for future generations.

Moreover, as pet owners in this community, we feel there is an urgent need for designated dog/cat parks within Kuantan. Such spaces would provide safe environments for pets to socialize and exercise while promoting responsible pet ownership among residents.

According to World Bank data (2019), urban green spaces like parks contribute significantly towards improving air quality by absorbing pollutants and providing oxygen. They also play a crucial role in maintaining biodiversity within urban settings.

We urge you all - fellow residents, nature lovers, pet owners - let us reclaim our green space! Let us work together towards making Dataran Sekilau not just another city park but an epitome of sustainability where nature thrives alongside urban life!

Please sign this petition urging the City Council of Kuantant to take immediate action on this matter.
