Train Horn Quite Zone in San Dimas, CA

The Issue

My family and I are residents of San Dimas, CA, and our health is being directly impacted by the extreme volume and frequency of Metrolink train horns. Our sleep is constantly disrupted, leading to a significant decline in our quality of life. This issue extends beyond just my family; it affects many residents who live near the railway lines.

Train noise pollution is not just an inconvenience; it's a public health concern. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), noise pollution can lead to serious health issues such as stress-related illnesses, poor concentration, productivity loss in workplaces, and hearing damage.

San Dimas deserves better. We propose that the city council implement a 'Train Horn Quite Zone'. This would mean that trains are prohibited from sounding their horns unless absolutely necessary for safety reasons. Similar measures have been successfully implemented in other cities across America with positive results.

The 6 train crossings in San Dimas are already equipped with the level crossing signals (gates and lights) needed to satisfy FRA requirements for a train horn quite zone.

We urge the city council to consider this proposal seriously for the well-being of all San Dimas residents affected by this issue. Please sign this petition if you believe in creating a quieter and healthier environment for everyone living here.
