Traffic Slowing Measures on Floradora Dr

Traffic Slowing Measures on Floradora Dr

The Issue

This is a petition to request traffic slowing measures on Floradora Dr. in Breckenridge CO. Cars drive entirely too fast for a residential neighborhood with a very popular park. In the original plans for this neighborhood there where supposed to be two speed bumps, one at the corner of Floradora and Grove Lane and one further south where the rec path meets Floradora Dr. There is only one speed bump, at the rec path intersection. Near the corner of Grove and Floradora, a dog was hit by a car and broke his leg in Spring 2021. After that, a formal complaint was made to the Town of Breckenridge and since then there has been a handful of Police Dept patrols in the neighborhood, not nearly enough to notice traffic patterns or slow down traffic. With the additional workforce housing being built and the future plans to connect Floradora Dr. to the satellite parking lot, traffic issues will only get worse. More and more families in the neighborhood are growing thier families and hope that this is a safe neighborhood to raise a family. Our concern is that the is not a safe neighborhood for pets and children. We wouldlike the Town of Breckenridge to add some slowing measures to reassure residents that they care about their safety. Some slowing measures that we would like to see are:

-Build the speed bump at the corner of Grove Lane and Floradora Dr, that home owners expected when we purchased our homes.

-Slow the speed limit to 15 MPH and ensure there are Police Dept patrols to enforce it.

-Change the sign at River Park to make it more clearly visible from the road while cars are parked on Floradora Dr. Recommend that it is another 5 feet or more taller and perpendicular to the street.

-Add more park and speed limit signage throughout the neighborhood.

-Do not connect Floradora Dr to the satellite parking lot.

Thank you for considering the safety of the residents of Blue 52 neighborhood and River Park users!
