Common Cause has started the #checkyourchallan campaign. 

Why this Campaign?

The 2019 Motor Vehicles Amendment Act revised the rate of fines upon the issuance of challans. In addition to this, the pandemic witnessed the deployment of multiple CCTV cameras across Traffic lights in major metropolitan cities, as a tool for fine issuance. In the first two months of the pandemic, almost 17 lakh challans were issued, in Delhi itself :https://www.thehindu.com/news/cities/Delhi/traffic-violations-rise-on-empty-roads/article31884769.ece

While on one hand the government wants to renegotiate the relationship between state actors and citizens using technology. There is an absence of creating awareness among citizenry about the deployment of technology as well as methods for the resolution of challans issued.
