Traditional Medicinals, a company founded by Rosemary Gladstar (self-proclaimed “godmother of herbalism”), an herbalist and author of many nutritional guides and publications, produces a tea that has been selling for many years called “Gypsy Cold Care Tea”, which is offensive to Romani people because the word “Gypsy” is a derogatory/racist word that has been used to refer to our people who are still to this day being ostracized, abused, neglected, denied basic human rights and treated inhumanely simply because of our existence. 

This company has sold the tea for many years and has made profits that were never attempted to be donated to support equality or the betterment of the Romani people. Some of us have emailed them and asked to change the name of the tea and they said they are working on it - but its been a very long time and nothing has been done. 

Romani people deserve to be respected and recognized for our skills, talents, abilities and contributions to society - not for a cartoon stereotype or character from a movie that is grossly exaggerated and often sexualized for entertainment. 

We are an extraordinary race of people who grace the globe with our beauty, energy and so much more, we deserve to be heard and seen as human beings, as equals.
