Hi! Hola! I'm Jenn Hurtado, an East Las Vegas resident with a mission. For decades, major and even some local businesses refuse to expand their brands to East Las Vegas using the demographic and the supposed lack of support as an excuse. Residents in our community do not have access to healthy grocery stores or healthy restaurants and it's time we change this together as a community. We deserve better for ourselves and our families. Our community is growing exponentially and our access to better food options is vital to our health. 

That's why Trader Joe's would be a perfect fit for the Sunrise Manor community. This specialized grocery store offers affordable, organic, sustainable groceries under their own label which helps cut the costs compared to leading brands you find at your average grocery store.

Trader Joe's would also bring much-needed jobs to our community. The company believes in its employees and offers exceptional benefits and pay that other grocery stores do not. 

So what about location? The former Fresh & Easy building on Charleston and Sloan has sat empty long enough. This is the perfect size for a Trader Joe's and is conveniently located, too.

It's time we work together as the resilient and beautiful community we are to make a positive change in East Las Vegas. We are worth investing in and we must make businesses like Trader Joe's see our value.

So what's next? Once we receive a sufficient amount of signatures, I plan to submit the interest form on TraderJoes.com to request a location. I will include the link to this petition and even financial information pertaining to the building on Charleston and Sloan, so if they choose to consider this location, they would have the costs readily available.
