Support Passing a Statewide Bill that will allow Passenger Rail Service to all 64 Colorado Counties

The Issue

Three Reasons:

1. The Denver Metro Region has the Regional Transportation District (RTD) that serves about 50% of the population of Colorado.  Their FasTrack Passenger Rail System has opened both Denver Union Station and Denver International Airport for Passenger Rail - both will be able to be accessed by the entire state if there was a statewide passenger system.

2. If a new set of tracks (about 240 miles of grade separated double track) could be build connecting Sterling to Las Animas and that both the Union Pacific & Burlington Northern and Santa Fe Railroads would move their slow moving freight trains to those tracks. Then the rest of the existing tracks could be used for passenger service that could ultimately be built to serve all of Colorado's 64 counties.

3. The new Passenger Rail District would build those tracks.  After voters approved the necessary funding then all of Colorado's citizens would have a choice in transportation - rail or car.  Just imagine going to Cheyenne or Albuquerque or Burlington or Grand Junction or maybe Salt Lake City or Springfield or Craig on a train.
