Birdseye street has become a highway and increasingly dangerous for not only my children, but the multiple children in our neighborhood. With 3 elementary schools, multiple parks, a basketball court, and 3 baseball fields on Birdseye street with the majority of the schools population being “walkers” (walk to and from school), you would THINK people would drive the speed limit, but no. No they don’t. The speed limit is 25 yet on a daily basis, I never see anyone going under 45mph. My kids have almost been hit by these people, and unfortunately children and adults have been hit by cars on this street. Their have been multiple accidents due to people speeding as well. They blow all of the stop signs or just roll and go.. I have been begging for a speed bump for quite some time to try to slow these careless people down but no one has been willing to hear us. The police refuse to have a cop car sitting around here, which is not the end result that’s needed regardless because even when they do sit across the street they don’t pull anyone over. After begging we did get a speedometer machine but only for a week and that didn’t do much either. There are speed bumps that are safe for snow plows which has been the concern of the town… we have funds put away for these kinds of safety measures. Please help keep our neighborhood children safe, the school children safe and future children to come here safe by signing for a speed bump on Birdseye Street!
